This beautiful cicim kilim from Afyon, Turkey, is a stunning example of traditional craftsmanship. Created using the intricate cicim weaving technique, this rug stands out with its unique raised patterns, offering a striking texture and exceptional aesthetic appeal.
Unlike standard kilims, cicim rugs are woven with an additional decorative thread that creates patterns appearing as if embroidered onto the surface. The base warp and weft threads are consistent in color and thickness, while the decorative threads add vibrant contrasts and depth. Sheep wool is predominantly used in the weaving process, though goat hair may occasionally be incorporated for added texture.
Approximately 50-60 years old, this vintage rug is in excellent condition and ready for immediate use. Its versatile design makes it perfect as a floor rug for your living space or as a wall hanging to showcase its rich cultural heritage and artistry.
